In New York, he appeared in several off-Broadway productions, including the Sundance Theatre Festival and the New York Theatre Workshop. After moving to Los Angeles, Burl continued to act on stage at various venues, including Rogue Machine Theatre Company and the IAMA Theatre Company. He made his television debut on the USA show 'Monk,' followed by appearances on NBC's 'Law & Order' and FOX's '24.' Burl has also appeared on popular shows like 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'The Mindy Project.' He has also been recognized for his work in digital short films, including his leading role in 'Groundhog Day For A Black Man,' which won an Outstanding Comedy and Critic's Choice Award at NBC Universal.
