[00:00:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Brandon, thank you for joining me today on Pop Culture Unplugged.

[00:00:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Hey Elias, thanks so much for having me.

[00:00:15] [SPEAKER_00]: And I love it.

[00:00:15] [SPEAKER_00]: We connected on Instagram, we finally got this interview down packed.

[00:00:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Mick Cobra Kai Season 6, first of all, how excited are you joining a show like this?

[00:00:25] [SPEAKER_02]: I am so incredibly pumped.

[00:00:27] [SPEAKER_02]: I've been a fan of the show since Season 1 and I'm also a lifetime martial artist.

[00:00:32] [SPEAKER_02]: So to be on a show like this and for this to be my first acting role,

[00:00:36] [SPEAKER_02]: it still hasn't really hit me that I'm actually going to be on the show.

[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think until I see, actually watch it, am I going to be like, oh, okay, I'm actually there?

[00:00:47] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?

[00:00:48] [SPEAKER_02]: It still feels like a dream come true.

[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah.

[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's get into a little bit of the journey too.

[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Like you mentioned off the air, this is one of your biggest projects now.

[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Tell us a little bit about that.

[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_00]: What made you get into the acting business?

[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_00]: What made you go for this?

[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_00]: You said you have a big martial arts background.

[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Was that part of it that you wanted to jump into action, TV films?

[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, for sure.

[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, ever since I was a little kid, I grew up doing Taekwondo

[00:01:14] [SPEAKER_02]: because my father owns a Taekwondo school in Minnesota.

[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_02]: So I grew up there doing martial arts pretty much my whole life.

[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't even remember life without martial arts.

[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Like apparently I could kick before I could walk.

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, so I always watched the movies like Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers,

[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_02]: all those kinds of shows and I would always just try to copy them nonstop

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_02]: and just train all day pretty much.

[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_02]: So I always had that passion from the beginning

[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_02]: and I realized that I didn't really enjoy school.

[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I wasn't very good at school.

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I wasn't really...

[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I just...

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_02]: I felt much more artistic and so the arts kind of spoke to me

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_02]: and then yeah, I went to a talent school in Minnesota

[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_02]: and luckily got representation out here.

[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_02]: So I decided well, school is not really for me.

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_02]: So let's just try it, you know, this opportunity came about

[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_02]: and I feel like I'm going to regret it if I don't try it.

[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, six years later, here we are.

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_00]: That's amazing. You mentioned Taekwondo.

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_00]: My daughter does Taekwondo. She's nine years old.

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she actually has right after this, she's got class and we got to take her to.

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh really nice.

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so she should be doing it for a few years now.

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_00]: There's days where you know, there's days where you know, she gets intimidated

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_00]: and you know, like she struggles but then there's other days you're like,

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_00]: who is this other person that's on the map today?

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for sure. That's awesome.

[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_00]: So tell us about how did the Kobarukai audition come up?

[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_02]: So you know what's funny is Kobarukai was actually one of my very first auditions

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_02]: when I moved to LA.

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_02]: I think it was season one, I can't even remember like what season I auditioned for

[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_02]: but it was like, it was way back then.

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Totally bomb the audition. I don't even think like it made it far.

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I don't even remember what character it was for.

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I auditioned again April of 2023.

[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_02]: I sent in a self tape and I was like, super stoked.

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I said, I was a big fan of the show and I felt like I resonated with the character a lot.

[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_02]: I love that they were exploring a world in Korea as well.

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_02]: As you can see where Sensei came students so I was like, oh this is so cool.

[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_02]: I really, really hope I booked this one.

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, I taped, I sent the tape in in April and then about a week later

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_02]: I met the big three, John Josh and Hayden, the creators of the show.

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_02]: I met them on Zoom, did an audition with them.

[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_02]: And then the strike happened so like right after that callback audition

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_02]: they told me they were interested but they couldn't lock down or anything

[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_02]: because of the strike you know?

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_02]: So pretty much for eight months I was just waiting to hear, wait am I going to be in the show

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_02]: and am I going to be in the show?

[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_02]: And then I found out in January about like one week before I went and shot episode three.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, it was a, it was like a whirlwind of emotions like spread out for a really long time.

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_00]: It's amazing you know, you mentioned you auditioned a few times for this show

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_00]: but it's like now like you must be happy that you got this role

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_00]: because like I mentioned to you on the DM like you're such a badass

[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_00]: in this first five episodes that we see you in.

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, thank you so much.

[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no I'm super stoked like I think, I heard this from Ralph Machio, the OG Karate Kid

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_02]: in his audiobook he said something along the lines of that

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_02]: whatever role you book is going to be meant for you.

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_02]: The right role will find you you know?

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's like looking back at all of this and then looking back at how this came about

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_02]: it just feels like oh this was the right time

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_02]: and for me to you know be a part of this show in the final season

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_02]: and I got the tail end of it.

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm so grateful to be a part of like this amazing show and yeah.

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_00]: So you know like the Karate Kid you know it's got a huge fan base,

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Cobra Kai I believe it got even bigger.

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Are you ready for the hate?

[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Because you know some people are going to come out there

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_00]: and come in after you for this character.

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_00]: What we see so far what do you think?

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean so far it's been so overwhelmingly positive

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_02]: like the Cobra Kai fans are the absolute best

[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_02]: like I mean as we're recording this I haven't even seen it.

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_02]: The show hasn't been out.

[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_02]: I've only seen the trailer and already the Cobra Kai fans have been

[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_02]: super super nice but no I mean I mean Tana Buchanan who plays Ravi

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_02]: even told me he's like dude you play a bad guy don't look at the internet.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_00]: I had a few cast members for the previous seasons that they don't even want to go on social media

[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_00]: because they're like they're getting destroyed by these fans

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_00]: and they're like I'm just playing a character you know.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah man I really hope people don't think I'm actually Kwan

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_02]: because yeah he is a bit of a bad word that I'm not going to say.

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Speaking of Kwan what can you tell us about this character

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_00]: and how would you say he fits in this Cobra Kai universe?

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_02]: You know I think he's you know we've seen a lot of like

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_02]: quote-unquote villains throughout this whole amazing franchise.

[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Definitely I think he has a hint of like chosen flavor on him.

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I remember when I actually did the audition for the callback

[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_02]: they actually wanted me to be a little darker and they were saying

[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_02]: like thank Karate Kid too so shout out to Yuji

[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_02]: and I remember like I wanted to make sure I didn't rewatch Karate Kid too

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_02]: before I did my audition because I didn't want to influence my performance too much

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_02]: in respects to Yuji's amazing performance I didn't want to copy him you know.

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_02]: But I just remember he just kind of has this like this aura of like

[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_02]: he doesn't give a crap about what anyone thinks

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_02]: he doesn't even think anyone should be able to touch him or be in the same room as him you know

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_02]: but I think what he brings to the show is just that like relentless energy

[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_02]: of just not really caring about anything but the goal.

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_02]: He kind of really just embodies what a Cobra is I think

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_02]: like fully you know I think a lot of the other characters that have

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_02]: you know bounced around from Cobra Kai to Miyagi Doty obviously have like this other side of them

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_02]: that's more of like a more of that Miyagi side you know

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_02]: but I think Kwan is kind of just a stream of savage you know.

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Like in the fight this is a spoiler alert but like he punches

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_02]: he punches Yu and straight in the neck and I remember Don Lee our fight coordinator

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_02]: when we were doing that I was like hey can I put in like a throat chop instead

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_02]: because I wanted to pay homage to like Tekwondo and that's a move that we actually have in our forms

[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_02]: and he was like yeah but when have you ever seen someone punch someone in the neck

[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_02]: and I was like yeah that's pretty violent what's what's doing that

[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_02]: that shows who this character is you know so he really has no mercy

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_02]: and yeah I think that's what he brings to the show.

[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_00]: You mentioned Yuji and Chosun what are the biggest things that are people that are writing

[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_00]: on these forums and everything they think that's your dad at the show

[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_00]: that's the rumor that Chosun is going to be Kwan's dad I'm like no it's not

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_00]: but how awesome would that have been for your character if that was something like that.

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_02]: That would be really cool I mean yeah I think with people dive deeper

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_02]: it's like Kwan's from Korea and Yuji is obviously or Chosun's obviously from Japan

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_02]: so I don't think it's necessarily possible but who knows maybe they're long lost

[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_02]: like you uncle or something you know.

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_00]: So I mentioned earlier you know what I watched it I call your character the badass right

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_00]: what aspects of this character you think stands out and how do you prepare to play

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_00]: like this character on screen?

[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_02]: You know honestly I think a lot of a lot of it is like well it's like the hair already

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_02]: I gotta give credit to where credit's due is Kevin our amazing hair stylist was

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_02]: he made that character like it's just one of those iconic things where it's like

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_02]: it's almost like Hawk you know or like when you see them it's like you know it's that

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_02]: so honestly I didn't feel like Kwan until he sprayed a whole bottle of hair

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_02]: sprayed my hair and did his magic.

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah I think sorry what was your question?

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Like what do you think makes him stand out and like how did you prepare to like play this character?

[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah I think also like bringing something new to the table we have seen Korean characters in the past

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_02]: but now we're speaking a lot more Korean and I think there's a little bit of like K-drama influence as well

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_02]: like both Daniel Kim who plays Yoon and I both like watch a lot of Korean movies so we kind of put a lot of that

[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_02]: that flavor in there as well but I think yeah I think I think just kind of like his

[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_02]: he just kind of has this certain like swag and aura to him I guess where he's just extremely cocky

[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_02]: and I try to embody it when I play him of just even the way he walks

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_02]: even in the fight where I tell them to hurry up and come fight me like that was all improvised on the day

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_02]: it was just something I kind of felt in the moment and yeah I think just kind of having the audacity to do like

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_02]: stuff like that I think makes Kwan stand out.

[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_00]: When you mentioned this part right away what I thought it was the old Bruce Lee movies.

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah like come on come on yeah yeah it's great yeah.

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_00]: For Kwan also like you know we see him he interacts with John Crease and then Kim

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_00]: who do you like I know you can't I know you probably can't tell us things about the second part of season 6

[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_00]: but like who do you think he pulls towards more Kim or John?

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_02]: I think we I think this is spoiler free like I think we see it in episode 3 where like

[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_02]: you know since Kim doesn't really like Kwan because he's not really tamable to her

[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_02]: like he doesn't listen to anything she says and Yoon is the perfect student in her eyes

[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_02]: where he's gonna do what she says but I think Crease comes and sees the raw like that anger you know

[00:11:24] [SPEAKER_02]: it's like the same thing he did with Johnny it's the same thing he did with Tori

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_02]: he saw the anger in them and was like you can use that as your power

[00:11:32] [SPEAKER_02]: so I think he kind of teaches Kwan that and that's the reason of the whole fight he's like

[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_02]: you know Kwan confronts Crease and Crease is like well quit whining do something about it you know

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_02]: go do something perfect you know so I think there's like kind of those parallels where you see

[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_02]: like how Crease kind of manipulates these people by seeing the anger in them

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_02]: but I think Kwan really like he finally feels like someone understands him

[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_02]: like he has all this built up anger which is the reason why he is the way he is

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_02]: and for someone to finally see that in him and be like you can actually that's your superpower

[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_02]: I think he he finally is like okay maybe I can listen to this guy

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_00]: You mentioned you have a lot of martial arts training is there something that you learned in you filming this series?

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_02]: For sure I think every project I learned a lot

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_02]: but like this one in particular I was so amazed by how like my my experience in the past working in stunts has always been in movies

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_02]: so generally in movies we have a lot more time to prep in TV especially Cobra Kai like we're just moving super fast

[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_02]: like I've worked on shows where I'm stunt double and I've trained an actor for three months before we even shoot

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_02]: this time like we were learning choreography on set and then I was talking to a lot of the other actors

[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_02]: they're saying that that's how it usually is you know so um no I learned a lot too

[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_02]: and like just just like see like it amazed me that much more like because I always thought they had a bunch of time to train

[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_02]: they don't have too much and they're still that good you know which is which is absolutely amazing

[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_02]: so definitely like being able to be like spontaneous and let just trust the training and trust the magic on set magic

[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_02]: and trust your fellow cast mates and trust the crew is definitely something I learned a lot

[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Amazing without giving out too much because I know we you know you can't give us too much on this journey

[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_00]: like what would you say how what can you tease about Kwan's journey now for the rest of the seasons

[00:13:34] [SPEAKER_00]: the rest of the parts

[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_02]: rest of the seasons okay

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_02]: ooh this is a good one

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_02]: that's just where we're getting into the danger zone because it's kind of all blurred to me it's all together

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_02]: but I we're separating it in parts um

[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll just say I think how the fans are already making all these assumptions of like

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_02]: oh who's Kwan gonna face this and that like that's why I think what's so amazing about Cobra Kai

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_02]: is there's so many amazing characters in the show that you kind of like want to play this mix and match of scenarios

[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_02]: and I think the fans have a lot to look forward to and who Kwan goes up against and not just Kwan but all the

[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Sensei Kim increases new Dojo what what they go up against um it's gonna be it's gonna be a crazy ride

[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll just say that

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_00]: When you were reading the script and you were finding out who Kwan faces were you like

[00:14:25] [SPEAKER_00]: were you getting excited facing some of these characters like what went through your mind

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_02]: um you know what's funny is like actually when I when I even booked the show I had no clue what the arc of Kwan was

[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_02]: all my audition sides were only in the episode that episode three and Hayden one of the creators of the show was pulling me aside

[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_02]: like whenever he had the chance in between like setups and shots of like telling me the arc of the character so

[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_02]: you know he was telling me kind of like what happens and I was just like fan-going like crazy like

[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_02]: oh this is gonna happen this is gonna happen um which I can't say obviously but um I mean it was kind of funny because

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_02]: every time he was about to say like a really awesome part they would need me on set so it was like the biggest cliffhanger

[00:15:13] [SPEAKER_02]: just like and I was like kind of giving Hayden the hard time because I was like that's exactly what you've done to me on my TV

[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_02]: on Netflix for all these years where you make me feel like uh I have to wait for a while to hear the best part you know

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_02]: um but yeah no I was definitely geeking out like crazy yeah right well that's how I was too because I had the screeners

[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_00]: and I watched the first five and as soon as episode five ended the way it ended I'm like I gotta wait four or five months

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_02]: for the next set they're really good at doing that I think that's a huge uh testament like shout out to all the

[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_02]: so the creators and the writers room and the producers just they're really doing that

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_02]: right really doing that keeping you hooked in and building the anticipation

[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_00]: what we've seen throughout these seasons too for Cobra Kai too is you know like we saw like you know Johnny Lawrence

[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_00]: he's you know he still has his little battles with uh with Daniel but you know he's on the good side now chosen the same thing

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Mike Barnes the same thing what do you think we see Quan five six years from now and his own show being good

[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_02]: and what's the what's your thoughts on all that oh you know never never say never you never know um I mean we're so early in the phase right now

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_02]: I guess I kind of want to leave that up to the fans and what they think do they think he's a Cobra rider die or is he someone that has a little

[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Miyagi in him maybe I don't know but uh I guess my opinion is kind of like what I said earlier I think he's more purebred than

[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_02]: uh some of the others like I think he's just kind of straight Cobra

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_00]: what's great is like you know he said Cobra Brandon H. Lee is going to be Cobra kind of for the rest of your life you're always going to have that as part of your your legacy your future right yeah man that's

[00:16:55] [SPEAKER_02]: that's insane like like literally when you said that it gave me chills just to like even think of that like I said I'm super honored to be part of this legacy because it's it's absolutely

[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_02]: it's legendary it's literally a part of pop culture like you're showing that you know it's literally such a big part of pop culture so yeah to be a small part of it is absolutely amazing

[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_02]: is your plan to get up and watch all those five episodes when they come out

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_02]: oh 1000% 1000% um I'm gonna binge that so fast yeah I mean we have to premiere in two days like the day before the show comes out

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_02]: um but I think we're only watching the first couple episodes so I'm definitely gonna have to binge the other three because you know even for me like I actually don't know what really happens too much outside of my episode that I was in

[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_02]: um episode three so uh other than that like as a fan I'm so excited to see like what what what happens yeah

[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_00]: out of this whole casting everything is there's somebody like because I know you can't tell us that much but is there somebody that you wish you had more scenes with or you didn't get a chance to work with

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_02]: but maybe you'll work with them in the future on a different project man um do you mean just like in part one in general or just like the whole project

[00:18:10] [SPEAKER_00]: well you've already filmed the whole series but I know yeah like is there somebody like you like you didn't have that many scenes with that you kind of hope that you wish you did or

[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, honestly just interacting more with a lot of the

[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_02]: The sensei's like

[00:18:24] [SPEAKER_02]: um from the opposing sensei's like Miyagi sensei's or just like

[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Even just the honestly just everyone because like it just happens so fast

[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_02]: You know it is it is still like a sub 40 minute show I believe so there's so many characters and there's so much stuff

[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_02]: That has to happen. Um, I did get to interact with a lot of them. I'll say that but like

[00:18:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, I always wanted to interact more. Um

[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_02]: I guess I'll just tease like I wish it would have been sick to

[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_02]: To interact with more with uh, maybe yuji chosen see

[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Behind the seeds did you get any advice from people like Ralph or billy or even like barns or even yuji about

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Being in a series like this being part of this

[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_00]: No, like this fan base that you're gonna be enjoying everybody's gonna be tuning in

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, 1000% I mean episode three the first episode I was in Ralph machio directed that one. So uh,

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Definitely being able to like pick his brand and just like he was such an amazing director

[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_02]: I think he's like an actor's director because he's an actor himself

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_02]: So you can really explain things to you in a way that's uh much more understandable to an actor and um

[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think really all of them. I mean, um

[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Alicia Hannah Kim she she gave me like she was always there for me

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Like she was always grateful that now we had more Koreans on the show because she kind of was like one of the only few, you know

[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_02]: um and like I mean just overall a lot of the other

[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm just gonna call them kids. Obviously they're not kids

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_02]: But like all the Miyagi kids, you know, um

[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh or Miyagi fang or whatever you call them

[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_02]: They just I mean, they're all around the same age as I am

[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_02]: but they're way more experienced in this industry and just like

[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I said, this is like my first like role. So to be able to pick their brains and like be around the same age and just

[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_02]: um, it was it was yeah, it was

[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_02]: It was something that you can't really you can't sign up a class for like that kind of information

[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's like a masterclass of just like everything. So yeah, I learned so much from from everyone even

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_02]: A lot of the crew just just everyone there honestly, you know

[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_00]: So what are you hoping for like the ck fans? What are you hoping to get out of the first part when they tune in to watch it?

[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, but I hope they get out of it or yeah

[00:20:43] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they joy out of it

[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_02]: I hope that

[00:20:47] [SPEAKER_02]: They that the wait for how long now has it been like over a year a year and a half maybe

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_02]: A year and a half maybe even two years since season five came out. Um

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_02]: I hope that the wait was worth it and I can confidently say even though i'm biased because

[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm in the season obviously but as a fan

[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_02]: I think this is definitely the best season yet and there's so much that's gonna happen and um

[00:21:12] [SPEAKER_02]: There's gonna be stuff that like what I think the cobra car fans do really

[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Really well with is like having these theories of like what's gonna happen, right?

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_02]: But I can confidently say that there's so many curveballs that nobody's gonna know, you know

[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Like you said like at the end of episode five like nobody saw that coming, right? So like there's there's a lot more stuff like that. So uh

[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think um, everyone should be excited to see what's coming. Yeah

[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Amazing, braven. Let's end this by like how now actually before we end this

[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Is there any other anything else coming out for you that you want to talk about or promote like people

[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_02]: That should be looking out for that you got coming out. Oh, yeah. Thank you. Um, I mean I have my own social media

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, I actually do a lot of comedy sketches on my youtube channel

[00:21:58] [SPEAKER_02]: If you search our brandy leigh, you should be able to find it

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I have a lot of comedy sketches like action comedy

[00:22:05] [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's very different from

[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_02]: It's it's like a wide range of characters that I play so it's very different from

[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Go on I think uh, right?

[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_02]: So if anyone's looking forward to seeing seeing some more

[00:22:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Some more of the content that I'm in feel free to check that out. Um,

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, yeah, actually, you know what you said kwan. I got one more question. Do you have a favorite quote from kwan?

[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_02]: um

[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_02]: So far I got it. I got a quote from just episode three's favorite quote

[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_02]: um

[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_02]: I think I think the one

[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_02]: I think the one where i'm like

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Waba bali waba which means like hurry up come come face face me, you know

[00:22:53] [SPEAKER_02]: In korea and I think that's the one because that that felt really natural in the moment and um

[00:22:59] [SPEAKER_02]: I think it just kind of if you were to like only be able to see two seconds of kwan

[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_02]: If you watch that clip you can immediately tell what kind of person this is, you know

[00:23:09] [SPEAKER_02]: So, uh, yeah, I would have to say that one. Yeah

[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Actually, there's I have one more question

[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought of it. I wrote it here john

[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_00]: From the big three tweeted out

[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Learn this name brandon h lee

[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Are you

[00:23:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I want

[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_00]: He tweeted this out a couple weeks or might have been a week ago. What's your thoughts on that tweet? Oh

[00:23:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, john herwitz is awesome. Um

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_02]: That's that's amazing. See thank you john. Um

[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean that's

[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_02]: That's awesome for for one of the creators of the show that have been

[00:23:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Such a big fan of to just really go out of his way to shout me out like that. It's I'm I'm

[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Super honored. Um, oh actually I remember when we shot episode three. This is kind of like a side story, but uh

[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_02]: john was john was mainly on set with ralph kind of watching the monitor when we did the board break

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_02]: um

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_02]: When I did like the 720 kick and um, that was the very first shot

[00:24:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Of the show that I was in so I was obviously really nervous going into it

[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_02]: but then

[00:24:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Right after we did that like I had gained a lot of confidence from like from their guidance and I remember so distinctly

[00:24:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna remember this till the day I die is uh

[00:24:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Right after we they called ralph called cut

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Him and john came running out of the the tent the director's tent

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_02]: And john looked at me. He shook my hand and said welcome to cober chi

[00:24:34] [SPEAKER_02]: And I was like

[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_02]: My goodness like I still get chills just thinking about it, but yeah, john hero, it's awesome. He's awesome

[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_02]: I see big things for you my friend. Thank you so much. Elias. Thank you. Thank you so much for having me on the show

[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, yeah, it was it was a blast man. Thank you. We'll have to continue this chat with part two comes out

[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's do it. Let's do it. Yeah
