[00:00:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Angela, thank you for joining me today on Pop Culture Unplugged.

[00:00:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, thank you, Elias, for having me. I'm really happy to be here.

[00:00:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Excited times we have Season 3 from a perbering just a few days.

[00:00:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, absolutely. Yeah.

[00:00:24] [SPEAKER_01]: What was the leak returning from the season?

[00:00:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Can you sort of write it in quite hear you?

[00:00:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I said, well, was it what did you feel like returning out set for the new season?

[00:00:34] [SPEAKER_00]: It was really exciting. I was really happy about that because, you know, we never know what's going to happen.

[00:00:42] [SPEAKER_00]: We don't get the scripts.

[00:00:45] [SPEAKER_00]: We get them maybe a couple of weeks in advance, but yeah, so it was just really exciting to say everybody.

[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I really missed everybody. They're really wonderful cast to work with.

[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_00]: So it was just nice thing they're bright shining faces again.

[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. I went back and I've washed a few episodes. I was looking for your character, the most thing.

[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_01]: The one thing that still remains a mystery is your story, Elias.

[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.

[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_01]: What can you tell us? Now, what can you tell us about season 3 about your character development in the season?

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_01]: What can you, without spoiling things, of course?

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I think you see a different side of Bata.

[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I think the season 2, I was pretty surly, really taken a back by all the developments.

[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, she was there to just do her job.

[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_00]: She was, that was her last bus ride.

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_00]: She had gone to school. She had gotten her degree.

[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_00]: She was looking ahead of, you know, the rest of her life.

[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_00]: And she just thought she'd take this job to make a little extra money to go on vacation,

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_00]: because she'd work so hard.

[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_00]: And she just wanted to get back to her family, get back to her,

[00:01:56] [SPEAKER_00]: while I made a son that she wanted to get back to.

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_00]: So she just wants to get back to that life.

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_00]: So when she arrives in town and she's telling people,

[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_00]: just get back on the bus, I don't care what's happening.

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, let somebody else deal with it because to her,

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_00]: this is just the last ride.

[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_00]: And I just want to get this job done,

[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_00]: and I want to be done with this job and get back to the life that, you know,

[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_00]: that I really, that I really feel that I deserve.

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_00]: And unfortunately it doesn't work out that way for her.

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_01]: How did you approach her, the character for the season coming up?

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_00]: For this season coming up, I think I was just open to whatever the head and store.

[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought that maybe, you know,

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't quite sure sort of where she was going to go.

[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And so what I found in this season three is this,

[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_00]: you just see sort of a softer side of her.

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_00]: And she's sort of coming to grips that she's here.

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_00]: And I see Bautta sort of representing just a lot of,

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, regular, every, everyday average people just trying to survive.

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_00]: So she's trying to figure out, you know, where is her place?

[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_00]: How does she fit in? Who are her friends? You know, who are there any enemies?

[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_00]: How does she survive in this new environment?

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think, you know, coming from her background, you know,

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_00]: she was a survivor of Hurricane Katrina.

[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_00]: So she went through the absolute worst.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think she's just sort of sort of standing back and figuring out what's her next move.

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, how do I protect, you know, my passengers?

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_00]: How do I protect myself?

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I think she has a real soft spot for Elgin.

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_00]: And she just wants to find a role in, in, in, with the towns people.

[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_00]: She wants to find a purpose here because I think she's realized her

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_00]: situation has changed. And now she has to adapt to all of these strange people around her and all of the strange horrifying circumstances.

[00:04:10] Yeah.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_01]: When I spoke into other cast members, two of the one thing they get excited about is when they get the script in their hands and they're reading it over and over and over.

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_01]: How does it feel like when you get that script into your heads?

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Do you like do you get crazy like the fans do when they can't wait to see the show?

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_01]: How do you know?

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, well, some of the surprises, right?

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_00]: There were, there were some surprises, right?

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm just discovering them as well.

[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_00]: So even if I'm not in a particular episode, I still read it because I want to know what's going on.

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm invested in the characters and I'm invested in what's going on.

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_00]: And you never know where those breadcrumbs that they put in there are going to lead you.

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_00]: So I really try and stay informed as best as I can so that, you know, when I do come back and interact.

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I know where I'm at in the story, in the overall story.

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_01]: What's the most challenging playing this character?

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Would you say?

[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think just finding or footing, finding out what are purposes.

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I came on feeling very protective of my passengers, you know, wanting to sort of shepherd them away from here and then I meet Donna.

[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I was kind of trying to tell me, you know, what to do and I'm like, this is my ship.

[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. I don't know what you're doing, but this is my ship and I just need to, you know, get this job done so I can, you know, get on with the rest of my life.

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think she might feel like a little rudderless now.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Now that the bus is no longer operational has been taken over by Randall, you know,

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_00]: it's not a viable option anymore, and she's thrust into like, call any house and kind of all these sort of strange people.

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm thinking she's feeling a little lost and looking for a purpose.

[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_01]: What do you love about her? Is there anything you would change about if you could?

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, I think that I think for me just in life and with that I think she just needs to find that sense of purpose.

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_00]: So that's what I would change that I would find her something something that really grounds her in the scenery of from Belle.

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_01]: So stay tuned.

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_01]: That's right. I mentioned earlier, you know, the show's got a huge fan base, you know, and they're called from Lee.

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, they're all waiting for season three to come out like what's been like the interaction with fans and what are they like about your character? Have you heard anything?

[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, someone, you know, told me that they really liked character because she's the one that sort of that they can identify with and it kind of grounds them in the reality.

[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_00]: And they really see themselves and her as all these events are unfolding. She's not used to it, right?

[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_00]: You had season one, you know, you introduced all the main characters and so they've been living that way for a while and she hasn't.

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_00]: So I think she kind of represents those outside eyes.

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_00]: As she's just trying to find, you know, her purpose and what's going on and how to survive and what she has to do and some of it's, you know, really outrageous, right?

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. So I think, yeah, I was told that I was just a real grounding presence. So that was really nice to hear.

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Who's been like your favorite person to work with? Have a scene with and eyes are, you know, if we see a more of your character down the road, is there somebody that you would like to have more scenes with?

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I would love to work with Donna Moore.

[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I think this song is an amazing actor and we did have that interaction in season two and I think we had some real fire there.

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, so I think that they'd be interesting working with her a lot more and of course Harold Perino.

[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I saw Harold Perino years ago doing Romeo and Juliet. He played a believe in recursion.

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_00]: And when I saw that it just changed my change my world. I'd never seen someone, you know, a black actor, you know, being the Shakespearean character on film, right?

[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, wow, I was completely transfixed. So I've been watching his career, you know, I'm a character actor as well.

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_00]: So I've been watching his career. So everything that he was in, I was like, oh, what's he doing and you know, what's he like?

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_00]: So I think that, you know, hopefully you'll be seeing more interaction between Bach to avoid, right?

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Because as she sort of brought these passengers into this world and he's the one that everyone kind of looks up to and he's trying to protect

[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Everyone in this family. So so there's all theirs, Morgan.

[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what I thought. So yeah, so that's been like, that would be a real dream to work with him a lot more to.

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_00]: He's fabulous to watch.

[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was going to say I spoke to him last year. He might be like one of the nicest people.

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_00]: He is amazing.

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I think we all of the cast members, you know, look towards him. He's kind of like, it's kind of like,

[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_00]: But are the captain of the ship right?

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_00]: And the one thing that I found really striking about working with these amazing actors is that

[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_00]: The show was about family. And so we've all have had that sense of family,

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Between all of us, right? So he's kind of like the big dad, right?

[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_00]: He's a goofball. He loves music and he's always kind.

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_00]: He's really kind and he's very generous with this time.

[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_00]: So I really appreciate that. I really got to him for that.

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_01]: And he had any advice, has he given any advice being on set or anything?

[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Or have you guys caught like shop to each other about acting?

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a little bit. A little bit.

[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I try not to like, you know, sort of engage to heavily when people are working.

[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Because they just kind of want to keep their mind in what they're doing.

[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, we swaps some stories, you know, and I did get a chance to tell him like,

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I go, it's so cool to have watched your career. And now I get to work with you.

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_00]: It's been a real honor. So yeah, we really enjoyed our downtime, you know,

[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Making presence for the putting presence together for the crew.

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Stuff like that. So yeah, it's been wonderful working with him and everyone, frankly.

[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Can you tease any like specific scene or interaction?

[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_01]: You'll be your character coming up that the fans are going to be excited about.

[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Or a specific episode that you can't wait for them to watch.

[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you know what? There's the prizes packed in every episode.

[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_00]: When it concerns Bonta, I think you will see more of a connection with Blade.

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just put it that way.

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_00]: And I really enjoyed that. It really gave me a sense of, you know, purpose and

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_00]: And for what, you know, Bonta has to look forward to. So that's been a really great.

[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I was told to ask you, is there a specific, is there like a favorite character that you have on the show other than yourself?

[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. There are also really amazing in their own, you know, individual ways.

[00:12:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I love Victor.

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. Yeah.

[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Played by Scott McCord.

[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_00]: I love to watch him work. We haven't worked together on set.

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_00]: But I love watching his work to be this kind of man child that's been abandoned

[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_00]: to this town for so many years. It really breaks my heart, right?

[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_00]: So when I watch him on screen, I really just admire that level of vulnerability that he has.

[00:12:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I really enjoy watching Los Angeles work. David L. Paye in Bailey, Catalina.

[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Like every, like I think every character on there has their own specific moments that make them, you know,

[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_00]: really special and unique. Yeah. So, yeah.

[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Like my favorite? No, I don't think I have a favorite.

[00:12:53] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, like there's Ricky and, and, you know, and Christy and the S.R.

[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm calling Rick character names.

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Like Chloe and, you know, no, I think, you know, two, they're so many of them.

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I think they're all just really unique. Yeah.

[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Angel, let's end this by, is there a specific message you want to give to the

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_01]: front of me? Because you know, they're going to tune into watch us interview.

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think you're going to find, oh, there's some, there's some really dramatic things that happen.

[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of scary things.

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Some new developments, some, some, there will be some answers. Let's put it that way.

[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_00]: And what I deeply appreciate the show is the sense of family.

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_00]: There's, there's the, sort of the, you know, the biological family members.

[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_00]: And then there's the family that people have created in that town.

[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, the love story with, you know, Fatima and Ellis.

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_00]: There's some surprising developments there with, with, with,

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_00]: the little gene, like everybody has kind of like a little pop, you know, that something kind of creepy happens.

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Some, some really scary, glory horrifying stuff happens.

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I guess that's pretty obvious.

[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_00]: It's a really happening season one season two.

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_00]: But I think you're going to be, um, your mouth is going to drop in a couple of places.

[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_00]: I have to say, I was surprised. I'd grab the script and I was like, what?

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_00]: But, but wait, wait, what? Oh my gosh. Really?

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Did that, is it true?

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_01]: It's awesome. They wanted earlier today I was online too.

[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_01]: And one of the funniest things I saw in one of those from groups was they're still complaining because they wish all the episodes would drop at once.

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Instead of weekly by weekly, I'm like, but you know what's the times that's a good thing.

[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think with each episode there's so much to unpack. It's probably a good thing that they don't.

[00:15:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Because I think there's little bits and pieces of breadcrumbs in every one of them.

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And people like to kind of go back and assess and, you know, is this clue going to lead somewhere.

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_00]: And there's a lot of that coming up. There's some new challenges that the people in town face that are really dire.

[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Right? Some new challenges. So it's not just the monsters that they have to worry about now.

[00:15:28] [SPEAKER_00]: So there's some stuff coming up there. Yeah.

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_00]: You didn't think it would get any worse in monsters, but then there's some new things that they have to overcome.

[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_01]: You're better.

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I love it. I love the mystery bit.

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Angela, I want to thank you for giving me some of this great and hopefully we see season four.

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully we see more of your character and we'll get you back on.

[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_00]: I look forward to that and I want everyone to tune in every week and choose things over and unfortunately I can't really answer much of anything.

[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_00]: But that's part of the fun, right? That's part of the fun and from a lay.

[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Right?

[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm easy.
