Richard Goodall: AGT Season 19 Winner Shares His Journey and Inspires Millions

Richard Goodall became a household name with his unforgettable performance on America’s Got Talent, where his golden buzzer moment left audiences and judges in awe. But despite his newfound fame, Richard remains grounded, continuing to inspire fans worldwide. In an exclusive conversation with Pop Culture Unplugged, Richard reflected on his journey, the power of perseverance, and what lies ahead in his career.

The Journey to the Golden Buzzer

For Richard, auditioning for America’s Got Talent was never part of a grand plan. “It was a combination of encouragement from my wife and the kids I work with at school,” he shared. “My wife bought the plane tickets and told me, ‘You have to do this.’”

Traveling to Pasadena alone, Richard faced nerves like never before. “I was scared out of my wits,” he admitted. “But once the music started, I was fine. Music is my home.”

The golden buzzer moment, delivered by Heidi Klum, was an experience he could have never imagined. “I never dreamed a supermodel would hug me and throw gold dust all over me,” he said, still marveling at the memory.

Don’t Stop Believin’

Richard’s performances have resonated with fans globally, but Journey’s iconic “Don’t Stop Believin’” has a special place in his heart.

“The song has been a mantra for me,” he explained. “I’ve tried out for The Voice, game shows, and more. I didn’t always succeed, but I kept going. You never know who’s watching.”

This perseverance paid off in the most extraordinary way when a viral video of Richard singing at school caught the attention of Journey themselves and ultimately landed him on the AGT stage.

Inspiring a Community

Richard’s story has touched countless lives, proving that dreams are within reach for anyone willing to try.

“I met a woman who told me she was inspired by my journey,” he recalled. “She worked in hotels and decided to go for a better position because she thought, ‘If he can do it, I can too.’ That was humbling and made the whole experience even more rewarding.”

Challenges and Triumphs

While performing was second nature, the most nerve-wracking part of AGT was waiting for the results. “The reveal show is the hardest,” Richard shared. “You’ve done your best, and it’s all up to America to decide.”

Hearing his name called as the winner was an indescribable moment. “I had just performed with Neil Schon and Journey, which was surreal enough. To then win? It didn’t feel real.”

What’s Next for Richard?

Despite his success, Richard hasn’t forgotten his roots. He continues to work at his school and remains the humble, down-to-earth individual fans fell in love with.

However, exciting opportunities are on the horizon. “I’m opening for Howie Mandel at Fantasy Springs Casino in Palm Springs on December 28,” he revealed. “I also have five concerts scheduled for next year, with more to come as the warmer months roll in.”

When asked about his dream collaboration, Richard’s answer was heartfelt. “I’d love to perform with Barry Manilow. He was my favorite before Journey. Singing one of his iconic songs would be incredible.”

Advice for Aspiring Performers

Richard’s advice to anyone chasing a dream is simple yet profound: “Keep trying. Don’t stop believing. You never know what’s possible if you keep pushing forward.”
