Van Crosby on Returning as Kyle, Filming in Europe, and the High-Stakes Family Adventure of The Family Plan 2st

With the massive success of The Family Plan, fans have been eagerly awaiting the next chapter of the Morgan family’s wild ride. Now, with The Family Plan 2 set to arrive on Apple TV, Van Crosby — who returns as Kyle — sat down with Elias to talk about the sequel’s action, humor, behind-the-scenes surprises, and how the family dynamic evolves now that the truth about Dad is out.

“It’s starting to ramp up… I’m getting nervous!”

Van opens the conversation with the kind of energy fans love. With the sequel gearing up for release, he admits the reality is sinking in.

“The first film was a huge success… it was the most watched movie on Apple TV,” he shared. “You hear these numbers, but you don’t really register that they’re actual people watching you around the world.”

That awareness — millions of viewers — still feels surreal for the young actor.

The Call for the Sequel Came From an Unexpected Source

According to Van, he didn’t hear the news from production first — but from his co-star Zoe and her mom.

“Her mom was texting my mom saying, ‘Did you hear about the sequel?’” Van said with a laugh. “Twenty minutes later, my agent called and said they want to do a sequel.”

The excitement in the Crosby household was instant.

The Morgan Family Knows the Truth Now — And That Changes Everything

One of the biggest shifts in The Family Plan 2 is that the kids now know their father was a government assassin.

“That’s part of our family dynamic now,” Van explained. “It’s been a couple of years, and we’ve internalized it, but things start happening again. We thought it was all over… now it’s all coming back.”

That sparks new tension, especially between Kyle and his dad.
“At that age, everyone starts butting heads with their parents,” he said. “Kyle’s grown up, he’s about to head to college, and it definitely changes how he sees things.”

Reuniting With Mark Wahlberg & Michelle Monaghan

Van lights up when talking about returning to work with Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan.

“Day one on set — it was already there,” Van said. “We built such a strong rapport in the first film that stepping back into it felt natural.”

He credits director Simon Cellan Jones for setting a tone that trickles down through the cast and crew.
“He trusts us a lot. He lets us try things, improvise, and really bring the characters to life.”

Filming in London and Paris — and Why Paris Stole His Heart

While the first film was set in the U.S., the sequel takes the Morgan family on a European adventure.

Van revealed he had never been to London before filming — and Paris quickly became his favorite location.

“It’s such a beautiful city,” he said. “Even though I don’t speak French, I didn’t feel out of place. Paris just makes you smile.”

The Wildest Scene to Film: A Car on a Hydraulic Rig

Fans can expect bigger action this time around, including a standout sequence involving a car plummeting down a set of stairs.

“It was like a roller coaster,” Van laughed.
The cast shot their in-car sequences on a hydraulic rig with massive screens behind them — similar to the tech used on The Mandalorian.
“It was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.”

A Third Film? Van Has Ideas

Van isn’t shy about wanting The Family Plan 3.

“Oh my gosh, please,” he said. “We all love each other so much — we’re all fingers crossed.”

As for the next destination?
“I’d love to see Japan or Australia. Those were the two places we kept talking about.”

Gaming Off-Set and a Holiday Hit for Fans

A known gamer, Van shared that he’s currently deep into a new Minecraft world.
“I might actually make it past the two-week phase this time,” he joked.

When asked why audiences should stream The Family Plan 2, Van kept it simple:

“There’s something for everybody — action, comedy, Christmas vibes, Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Monaghan, Kit Harington… and me!”
