Pop Culture Unplugged caught up with Milan Carter, who returns as fan-favorite Barry in Netflix’s hit action-comedy FUBAR. With Season 2 finally premiering on June 12, Milan opened up about stepping back into Barry’s shoes, the emotional rollercoaster of heartbreak, his hopes for Season 3—and why he thinks Barry deserves his own slow-motion action sequence.
Two Years Later—Barry Is Back
“It’s been two years since we spoke, and it’s like being told we’re going to Disney tomorrow,” Milan joked about the excitement of returning for Season 2. He called the wait “anxious” and said he couldn’t sleep knowing the world was about to dive back into FUBAR.
Finding the Right Tone This Season
Season 2, Milan explained, feels more locked in tonally: “Season 1 we were like, ‘What genre is this?’ This time we knew—we hit the comedy, action, and heart.” He credited the team for finding the right balance and delivering a polished version of the show’s identity.
Barry’s Biggest Goal: Love
One of Barry’s central arcs this season? Chasing love. After Season 1’s dramatic wedding reveal, Barry starts Season 2 desperate to reconnect with Tina. “He’s still chasing the one who wasn’t at the wedding,” Milan shared.
Heartbreak and Betrayal: The Tina Twist
One of the show’s emotional gut punches? Barry learning Tina is a Russian spy. “It was like flashbacks, trauma—I had to call my therapist!” Milan admitted. He added that Barry, being a comic book lover, searched for some moral logic in Tina’s actions: “Even villains believe they’re right in some way.”
Redemption and the Season’s Final Twist
In a twist ending, viewers discover Tina was misleading her own team, not just Barry. “That was the breath of fresh air Barry needed,” Milan said. “She still loved him and tried to protect him.” He hopes Season 3 lets Barry “go full Rambo” to rescue Tina.
Will Barry Forgive Her?
Milan believes Barry will forgive Tina—eventually. “Barry’s all about showing up for people, maybe because of his own abandonment issues. But acts of service? That’s his love language.”
Dream Scenario: Barry & Tina, Action Duo
If Season 3 happens, Milan wants Barry and Tina to become a spy power couple: “Like Luke and Emma 2.0! I want Barry lighting up Russians and going full action hero.”
Favorite Villain & Scene Stealer
Milan gave props to Guy Burnet’s outrageous villain, calling him “a dream role” and “hands down my favorite.” He also shouted out the production’s commitment, including shadowing director Phil Abraham and watching elaborate set builds up close.
That Zero-G Scene in Outer Space
Milan’s proudest moment? The space sequence. “I wanted to represent zero-G authentically. I did my own stunts.” He also shared that the first Black astronaut went to his high school, making the scene personally meaningful.
Barry’s Team Dynamics
Barry still loves his team—but he’s ready to grow. “It’s like your mom—you love her, but don’t want to be around her 24/7,” Milan joked. “Barry wants something for himself now.”
Unexpected Cast Moments
Travis Van Winkle’s bond with the pig, Hamsteak, impressed Milan. “He took that pig to lunch! It was his little child.” He hopes we see more of that duo if the show returns.
Episode You Can’t Miss
Episode 1 is Milan’s must-watch: “It sets the bar. Once you see that, you’re hooked.”
Season 3 Wishlist
Milan’s dream for Barry in Season 3? “Let him be a sex symbol! Slow-mo, shirt off, tie on the head—Barry taking out bad guys!” He also wants more one-on-one time with Arnold Schwarzenegger: “That bromance needs to come back.”
What’s Next for Milan Carter
Beyond FUBAR, Milan is working on a new YouTube series called Standing in My Own Way. He’s also been busy fixing up his home with his contractor brothers and raising his two sons—each born just before a FUBAR season started filming. “I guess if we want Season 3, I need to get to work on another baby,” he laughed.
FUBAR Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix. Will Barry and Tina reunite? Will Barry finally get his Rambo moment? Time—and the fans—will decide.
