Hannah Cheramy Discusses 'From' Season 3 and What’s Ahead for Season 4

Hannah Cheramy, who plays Julie Matthews in MGM+’s hit series From, sat down with Pop Culture Unplugged to reflect on Season 3, her character’s emotional journey, and what fans can look forward to in the recently announced Season 4.

On the Excitement of Season 4

With the news of From being renewed for a fourth season, Hannah couldn’t be happier.
“I’m really happy to go back. I miss all my people dearly,” she shared. While filming for Season 3 wrapped six months ago, she’s eager to return to the set. “Hopefully by spring, we’ll be back filming. Fingers crossed!”

Julie’s Emotional Growth in Season 3

Julie’s journey throughout the series has been one of resilience and transformation.
“This season, I really got to discover more about her backstory,” Hannah explained. “She’s not only dealing with the current trauma of being in the town but also the past trauma with her dad and her brother Thomas before they even arrived. That added so much complexity to her character.”

Despite her struggles, Julie’s growth stands out.
“She’s had to grow up really fast. This place forces you to mature. It’s sad, but it also makes her stronger, and by the end of the season, she’s definitely tougher.”

The Challenges of Filming in Season 3

Season 3 presented some intense filming conditions, especially for Julie’s scenes in the dungeons and hallucinations.
“It was a lot—and cold,” Hannah laughed. “You couldn’t prepare for how wild the weather was. There’d be 90-kilometer gusts of wind, and we’d just keep filming. It definitely added a layer of realism to the scenes.”

Fan Theories and Mysteries

The From fandom is known for its wild theories, and Hannah loves engaging with them.
“My favorite theory right now is that Randall is actually Martin. It’s so clever, but also, like, all the monsters know everyone’s names, so it could mean something else entirely!”

Some fans even speculate the entire series might just be a dream.
“That’s an interesting one. Especially with Tabitha waking up in a hospital—it’s layered and so intriguing.”

Julie’s Relationships: Family and Beyond

Julie’s complicated family dynamics have been a central theme throughout the series.
“With the Matthews family, it’s always changing—working together one moment, fighting the next. It’s exhausting for Julie,” Hannah said. “That’s why she’s constantly searching for connection outside her family, like with Randall.”

The Julie-Randall dynamic has evolved this season.
“They’re trauma-bonded after what they went through in the dungeon. I think we finally see a soft spot in Randall, which is great, and Julie is just always looking for belonging.”

Unraveling the Town’s Mysteries

Season 3 has delved deeper into the town’s secrets, including the introduction of time travel elements.
“I don’t even know if it’s time travel,” Hannah admitted. “It’s more complicated than that. There’s so much to unpack.”

She also highlighted the significance of the music box.
“From Jade working with the numbers and notes to playing music on the violin, it feels like music is a key part of the larger mystery. I just don’t know what the connection is yet!”

Favorite Moments and Cast Additions

Hannah expressed her excitement about the new characters this season.
“I loved the addition of Acosta and would love to see Kevin brought into the fold more,” she said.

When asked about her favorite scene partner, she praised Samantha Drake’s incredible performance and hinted at the potential for Julie’s connection to the dungeon and its secrets.

Fan Art and Theories Keep the Show Alive

Hannah is in awe of the fan art and theories shared by the show’s dedicated followers.
“I love the creativity—from digital art to fan edits on TikTok. It’s amazing to see how invested people are in the show.”

She’s also excited about the possibility of meeting fans at events like Comic-Con in the future.
“Some of our cast went to San Diego Comic-Con last year, and I hope I get to join next time. It’s so cool to connect with fans directly.”

Hopes for Season 4

Hannah is eager to explore Julie’s journey further in Season 4.
“If Jim is truly dead, I’d love to dive into the aftermath of that for Julie. He’s still her dad, and that would be devastating for her.”

She also hopes to see more of Julie’s connection to the dungeon and the mysteries of the town.
“Julie has become so integral to the larger mystery. I’m excited to see how her story unfolds.”

A Message to Fans

Hannah had a heartfelt message for the From fandom:
“Keep asking your questions and making your theories. No matter how outlandish they seem, I love them all. Thank you for being so invested in the show and the characters.”

With Season 3 wrapping up and Season 4 on the horizon, From fans have plenty to look forward to. Stay tuned for more twists, mysteries, and revelations in the eerie town that continues to captivate audiences.
