With all three parts of Providence Falls now aired on Hallmark, audiences are still buzzing about the plot twists, heartfelt moments, and of course, Felicia Simone’s standout performance as Suzette—Cora’s loyal, vibrant, and slightly mysterious best friend. Felicia joined Pop Culture Unplugged to talk about her journey with the trilogy, the fan reactions, and what’s coming next in her career.
The Positive Energy Behind Providence Falls
From the start, Felicia was overwhelmed by the love and feedback from fans. “Even when we were shooting, the cast and crew were excited,” she said. “And I’m so glad that translated through the screen.” The series’ mix of romance, mystery, and even time travel drew audiences in—and Felicia’s role added a layer of charm, humor, and depth.
Auditioning Blind & Discovering Layers
Felicia, no stranger to Hallmark (Three Wise Men and a Baby, among others), auditioned for Suzette with only part of the story in hand. “My first audition was just episode one,” she shared. “It wasn’t until I read again that I realized the whole plot twist. That made it so much more exciting.”
She described Suzette initially as “fun, quirky, sassy,” but loved discovering the character's hidden layers as the story progressed. “Playing both sides—supportive best friend and someone with an ulterior motive—was so fun.”
Filming the Trilogy
The project was shot over three months with each movie filmed in order. Felicia noted how rare and rewarding it is to spend that kind of extended time on a single project, building bonds with cast and crew. Although she missed out on filming in Ireland, she loved hearing everyone’s stories and seeing the footage upon their return.
Her favorite scenes? The infamous Wild Hog moment in Part 2 and the tense mine scenes in Part 3. “Part 2 stands out because so much happens. The reveal, the chaos—it was one of my favorite arcs.”
Suzette’s Influence and Wardrobe Buzz
Some fans called Suzette “suspicious” and “pushy,” but Felicia sees her differently. “She genuinely wanted Cora to have excitement in her life. Liam brought that, even if there were other motives.” And about that wardrobe? “I’m such a simple person, so Suzette’s colorful, bold fashion was totally opposite of me. But it helped bring her to life.”
Would Felicia be friends with Suzette in real life? “Absolutely. She’s that friend who can get you in anywhere with a wink and a smile.”
Could There Be More Providence Falls?
While the story from the books is wrapped, Felicia is hopeful. “There’s definitely room for spinoffs—the angels, the café, new characters. Fans are asking for more, and I’d love to return.”
What Hallmark Fans Love
“Hallmark is known for romance and happy endings,” she said. “But Providence Falls took it further—romance, mystery, adventure, even murder! People have called it a ‘movie hangover’ because you feel so much watching it.”
Beyond Acting: Felicia the Creator
Felicia isn’t just acting—she’s also a writer and producer. Her project Dating App Chronicles, a dramedy about dating in the digital age, has already won festival recognition. She wrote a full TV adaptation and recently shot the pilot with a grant. “It’s about growth, relationships, and toxic coping mechanisms—with humor, of course.”
She’s actively pitching the series and already has plans for a second season.
What’s Next?
While she couldn’t reveal full details, Felicia confirmed she’ll be back on set with Hallmark soon and is also filming an indie comedy short. As always, she’s keeping busy and staying creative.
“Creating helps me stay grounded in this unpredictable industry,” she reflected. “It’s part of my process and my passion.”
