Beth Riesgraf has returned as Parker in Leverage: Redemption Season 3 — and if you thought you’d seen all the layers of this fan-favorite character, think again. In an exclusive conversation with Pop Culture Unplugged, Riesgraf opened up about Parker’s growth, fan feedback from the autistic community, her passion for directing, and what she hopes the future holds for both Parker and the series.
Parker’s Leadership Era
Fans have noticed a shift in Parker this season — she’s still the quirky, daring thief we know and love, but there’s a new edge of confidence and maturity.
“She’s leveling up emotionally and physically,” Riesgraf said. “She’s still the Parker everyone loves, but now she’s evolving. And I really wanted that growth to be visible, not just internal.”
Now a producer on the show, Beth had a hand in shaping those character arcs. “As a producer, I’m more involved in those conversations. It’s important to me to show Parker as a leader — someone who's embracing her power.”
The Autistic Community and Parker’s Impact
Over the years, Parker has resonated deeply with fans — especially those within the autistic community — something Riesgraf never expected, but cherishes.
“It was never my intention to label Parker,” she explained. “But the fact that people see themselves in her — that she makes them feel accepted, seen, and limitless — that’s the most beautiful thing.”
“She shows that you can make your own rules and still be powerful, no matter what the world tells you. That’s why I think she’s become an icon for so many people.”
Stunts, Sisterhood, and Standout Episodes
From cake fights to high-stakes action, Parker continues to deliver unforgettable moments. One of Riesgraf’s favorites this season came in “The Grand Complication Job,” where Parker bonds with new character Astrid, played by Alexandra Park.
“There’s a moment where we’re eating cake and smash it into each other’s faces — that was improvised and super fun. It felt like Parker suddenly had a new sister.”
Another standout was the noir-themed episode, where Parker faces a darker emotional reckoning. “It was such a powerful arc. The monologue John Rogers wrote for her was amazing — and Mark Roskin directed the hell out of it.”
Balancing Parker and the Director’s Chair
Riesgraf isn’t just leading on-screen — she’s also behind the camera. Season 3 features her fifth directing credit, with Episode 7 airing May 15.
“This one was a blast — we shot in real Louisiana towns, transformed wedding venues into banks, diners into Ethel’s Diner. I love the challenge of creating that immersive world,” she shared.
Her creative journey began with photography in high school, and she’s not stopping anytime soon. “My dream has always been to be behind the camera. I want to operate. I want to direct. I want to keep growing.”
The Future of Parker (and a Spinoff Wish)
With no confirmation yet on a Season 4, Riesgraf is hopeful — and already thinking ahead.
“I’d love to see Parker end with total freedom. She started as a lone wolf, and now she’s the heart of the team. But wouldn’t it be amazing to see her trust herself enough to lead, run solo again, and be a source of security for others?”
And what about a Parker spinoff? “Oh, totally! I’d love to do a Parker standalone movie or series. She's got so much more story left.”
From fan-favorite thief to emotional leader to director behind the scenes, Beth Riesgraf continues to evolve right alongside Parker. Season 3 of Leverage: Redemption proves this show — and this character — still has plenty of tricks up its sleeve.
