Aparna Brielle on Betrayal, Action & Redemption in FUBAR Season 2

Pop Culture Unplugged caught up with Aparna Brielle just ahead of the release of FUBAR Season 2, where she reprises her fan-favorite role as the mysterious and complex Tina. From Russian double-agent twists to emotional gut punches and gritty fight scenes, Aparna didn’t hold back in our conversation about what makes this season even more explosive.

“The Cat’s Out of the Bag”

In Season 2, Tina’s cover is blown—everyone now knows she’s a Russian spy. But the story doesn’t stop there. Aparna revealed that she actually found out about the twist before being cast. “The showrunner told me, ‘If you get this role, you're a Russian double agent.’ I was like, oh, okay… that’s crazy!” she laughed.

The Double Cross

While Tina deceived Barry and the CIA team in Season 1, Season 2 dives deeper into her layered motivations—revealing she was also misleading her own Russian handlers. “Tina was raised to be an asset, not a person,” Aparna explained. “But Barry and the team treat each other like family, and that confuses her. It’s the first time she feels loved.”

Tina & Barry: Love, Loss, and Betrayal

The emotional fallout between Tina and Barry (played by Milan Carter) is one of the season’s most devastating arcs. Aparna admitted the scenes were tough to shoot. “Every time they yelled cut, I’d turn to Milan and say, ‘I’m so sorry!’ He’s just such a sweetheart.”

Could there be redemption? Aparna hopes so. “I want to see an emotional reunion. Tina needs to feel 100% safe to open up. That hasn’t happened yet.”

Fight Scenes and Falling in the Sand

Season 2 gave Aparna her first-ever fight sequence—against Monica Barbaro’s character. “We were doing full-on choreo in heels on sand. It felt like dancing again,” said the former dancer. She even passed out after one take and insisted, “Use that one!”

If there’s a Season 3, she’s hoping for more action. “Sword fighting, stunt work—I want to do it all. I’d love to fight with the others… or maybe even go toe-to-toe with Fortune Feimster’s character. Rue’s been bullying Tina a little too much!”

What Fans Can Expect

Beyond the action and humor, Aparna says this season is all about relationships. “These characters are literally going through therapy in a safe house. That’s the heart of it—figuring out how to be human in a chaotic world.”

The final episode? “A massive cliffhanger,” she teased. “There’s so much character movement, tension, and a few jaw-dropping dance scenes.”

What’s Next for Aparna

While she’s currently taking a short break, Aparna is busy with her immersive artist collective in Los Angeles and hinted at a few upcoming (secret) projects. “There’s more coming, but for now—it’s all about FUBAR.”
